Flip Ledger

Guide

Getting started

  1. Install Flip Ledger from the Plugin Hub in the RuneScape client.
  2. Log in. The plugin reads your GE slots straight away and starts a ledger for this character.
  3. Open the panel from the plugin's ribbon icon. It has five tabs: Slots, Margins, Flips, Stats and Items.
  4. Optionally grant the chatAccess and httpAccess permissions. Everything works without them.

Then trade as you normally would. There is nothing to type in: every buy and sell, including partial fills, is picked up from your slots.

Slots

Every GE slot is listed with its item, buy or sell, price, how much has filled and how long since it last changed.

Margins

When you buy or sell a small amount that fills almost at once, that is a margin check. Its price becomes the item's latest insta-buy or insta-sell price.

The tab shows one row per item with both prices, the margin after tax, ROI, how old each price is and your buy-limit use. The Sort button cycles between margin, ROI, age and name.

How a margin check is detected

An offer counts as a margin check when it is for 1 item (or up to the "Margin check max quantity" setting) and it fills completely within 10 seconds (the "Margin check fills within" setting).

Margin checks still appear in your flips and still count toward buy limits. By default they are left out of profit; the "Leave margin checks out of profit" setting changes that.

Flips

Each sell is paired with your earlier buys of the same item, oldest first. Each pairing is a flip, shown with its quantity, buy and sell price, profit after the GE's 2% sale tax, ROI and how long you held the items. Newest flips come first.

A sell with no earlier buy (the items were bought before you installed the plugin, or on another device) is listed as "no buy" and never counts as profit.

Stats

Totals for the period you pick with the Period button: this session, the last 24 hours, or all time.

A flip belongs to the period its sell is in. A session starts when you log in and ends when you log out or after 30 minutes with no GE activity.

Items

Star the items you flip often and keep a short note on any item, such as "slow above 240". Starred items are marked with a * on the Slots, Margins and Flips tabs.

The tab lists every starred or noted item, starred ones first. Stars and notes are shared by all your characters, and clearing a ledger keeps them.

Buy limits

The Margins tab shows how much of each item's 4-hour buy limit you have used and when the window resets. The window starts at your first buy after the previous one expired, and every buy in it counts.

Limits come from the game client. If one is missing or wrong, set your own under Buy-limit overrides. With httpAccess, items the client has no limit for get one from the RS Wiki.

Pausing for trades that aren't flips

Not every trade is a flip. Press Pause on the Slots tab while you buy food or supplies to use, or sell things you gathered. Press Resume when you go back to flipping.

While tracking is paused, new offers are still logged and buys still count toward your buy limits, because the GE counts them too. They never become flips, unsold stock or margin checks, so they stay out of your profit.

What counts is whether tracking was on when you placed the offer. Buy a batch to flip, pause, then sell it, and the sale still counts as a flip. An offer placed while paused stays out of your flips even after you resume.

While paused, the panel's title says "(tracking paused)" in amber so you don't forget. The same switch is in Settings as "Track flips".
